Survival Mode: The 2026 FHSAA State Soccer Playoffs Have Officially Begun
The regular season is over. The rankings are frozen. Now, it is time for survival mode.
As of this week, the 2026 FHSAA District Tournaments have officially kicked off across the Sunshine State, marking the beginning of the road to DeLand and Auburndale. For hundreds of high school programs, the equation is simple: win the District title and guarantee your spot in the bracket, or leave your fate in the hands of the FHSAA Power Rankings.
Here is everything you need to know as the playoffs get underway, including the full tournament schedule and the bracket structure.
The Road to the Ring: How It Works
The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoffs are a gauntlet. It starts locally this week with District Tournaments (Jan 20-27).
District Champions: Automatically qualify for the Regional Playoffs and secure a top seed (seeds 1-4 in each region).
At-Large Bids: The next four highest-ranked teams in each region (based on the FHSAA Power Rankings) who did not win their district will fill seeds 5-8.
This makes this week crucial. A loss in the District Final doesn't end the season for a top-ranked team, but it forces them to travel on the road for the playoffs. For "bubble teams," a loss this week means the season is over.

Venues: Where History Will Be Made
Once the field is whittled down to the Final Four, the setting shifts to neutral grounds. This year, the FHSAA State Championships will be hosted at two premier locations:
Classes 4A - 7A: Lake Myrtle Sports Park (Auburndale, FL)
Classes 1A - 3A: Spec Martin Stadium (DeLand, FL)
Teams to Watch
While upsets are guaranteed in the District rounds, several heavyweights are looking to defend their territory.
On the Boys' side, Tampa Jesuit and Panama City Beach Arnold have looked dominant all season, but keep an eye on Mandarin out of Jacksonville, who are peaking at the right time.
On the Girls' side, the national powerhouse Montverde Academy remains the team to beat, playing a schedule loaded with national talent. However, St. Thomas Aquinas has the depth and playoff experience to make a deep run in Class 6A.
